چکیده

PARAM-10000 is latest of the series of High Performance Parallel Super Computers developed by India. It employs a distributed memory and message passing architectures and is built as a cluster of SMP workstations using 4-way SMP workstations from Sun Microsystems. The work discusses about Parallel Finite element Analysis Programs developed with Direct Frontal Solver and Iterative PCG (Pre-conditioned Conjugate Gradient Method) Solver for 2d and 3d analysis. The Comparative Performance of these Parallel Computation of FEA (Direct and Iterative Solver based) is bench marked on PARAM-10000. Studies have been conducted on medium sized two and three dimensional linear finite element analysis problems for elastic structural analysis. To increase problem size(dof), automated meshes were generated using 8-noded serendipity elements for 2d analysis and 20-noded brick elements for 3d analysis. Each problem has been analysed by Parallel FEA Computation using 1 to 4 Processors on PARAM-10000. Detailed Speed-up and Efficiency studies have been reported and conclusions are drawn about Performance on PARAM-10000 machine.

MPI-based parallel finite element approaches for implicit nonlinear dynamic analysis employing sparse PCG solvers

This paper presents three formulations combining domain decomposition based finite element method with linear preconditioned conjugate gradient (LPCG) technique for solving large-scale problems in structural mechanics on parallel processing machines. In the first formulation called the Global Interface Formulation (GIF), the PCG algorithm is applied on the assembled interface stiffness coeffici...

Parallel multi-frontal solver for p adaptive finite element modeling of multi-physics computational problems

The paper presents a parallel direct solver for multi-physics problems. The solver is dedicated for solving problems resulting from adaptive finite element method computations. The concept of finite element is actually replaced by the concept of the node. The computational mesh consists of several nodes, related

Advancing Analysis Capabilities in Ansys through Solver Technology

This paper describes substantial improvements in analysis capabilities in a large scale commercial finite element program made possible by the implementation of solver technology. The ANSYS program is a commercial finite element analysis program, which has been in use for thirty years. The original code, developed around a direct frontal solver has been expanded over the years to include full f...

Performance of a Multi-frontal Parallel Direct Solver for Hp-finite Element Method

In this paper we present the performance of our parallel multi-frontal direct solver when applied to solve linear systems of equations resulting from discretizations of a Finite Element Method ( -FEM). The -FEM generates a sequence of computational meshes delivering exponential convergence of the numerical error with respect to the mesh size (number of degrees of freedom). A sequence of meshes ...

Hybrid Direct and Iterative Solver with Library of Multi-criteria Optimal Orderings for h Adaptive Finite Element Method Computations

In this paper we present a multi-criteria optimization of element partition trees and resulting orderings for multi-frontal solver algorithms executed for two dimensional h adaptive finite element method. In particular, the problem of optimal ordering of elimination of rows in the sparse matrices resulting from adaptive finite element method computations is reduced to the problem of finding of ...
